There is hope and light at the end of dark tunnels (well some), but after a period of two years Mel has just landed a teaching positon. It is one term's maternity cover, but it gives her the opportunity to get out of the shitbag company she has been doing 'temp work' for and get some tangible experience for future positions she applies for.
There is however a significant lack of news on any other front... but I wanted to pop on here and say thank you to everyone who has PM'd me, text'd or replied to any of my ramblings on Facebook and to say:
If you find yourself out of work, facing redundency etc, have faith. It may be a heartbreaking journey getting back in the saddle, but time and persistence will pay off.
Oh and it turns out... DIY is still not my think - almost had another trip A&E yesterday whilst pulling off the plastic tiles the previous owner had put up in the kitchen... Though I am powering on... currently the kitchen looks like this:

Only just seen this update Chris. Really pleased that Mel has secured a position, albeit it temporary but will be good for her CV and her (and your) soul!
Keep in touch.

So, I have ended up in this room after all these years. This is what it feels like
My VX drove off into the distance earlier and all I am left with is a pile of cash.
I bought my VX in March 2006 with the honest intention of keeping it through the summer and selling up. Here I am 7 years later and it has finally gone. Very sad, but, fcuk, it's only a car......
Many of you newbies that have only been around for a metter of a couple of years (depite your 57,000 post count) will not remember the good old days before yer fancy superchargers but I have seen many a avid owner come and go over the years and cannot recall many that have sold up purlely because the VX is anything other than a fantastic little car. Although I have not been posting much here in recent years I still see some old faces and have great recollections of meets, tunnel runs, Xmas parties etc that I have attended. I cannot ever remember going for any sort of drive - be it a trip to the local shops or a 30 mile blast in the country - without getting that VX feeling. Such an immensly satisfying car to drive despite the rattles, bumps, lack of refinements etc, etc.
This place has certainly added to the experience over the years and I woyuld like to thank everyone that I have met (in real life and virtually) over the years for being so friendly and helpful. I know you get some complete arseholes on here but luckily they are few and far between. The majority of VX owners are, by and large, quite nice people. So much nicer than that Lotus lot
Thinking back I can recall many, many names whose posts made me chuckle. This certainly must be one of, if the the best car forums on 'tinternet and that is down to it's members
I will be lurking around in the future and you never know, may even return one day.
For now, Bye!
Adrian (& Sue x)

I hate to see the older members go. Remember this forum back in the early days, before the days of modifications? What an exciting place it was.
Hope to see you back here in the future

Sorry to see you've sold up Adrian
Only met you once, on a city drinks a few years ago (one of the best ones).
Good luck for the future, and make sure you come back on here with a new Vx soon

Shame to see you sell. I think we bought our Europa blue NAs about the same time
I have been considering selling too, but I cant be bothered to talk to dreamers about it so I think it will stay in the garage
Remember this?
2007, and I think you had the hardtop on
