Well, after 5 years I've finally said goodbye to my vx. I bought it, kind of accidentally, while looking for an s2000. It came up on pistonheads and I bought the first one I saw! (Never thought they would be in budget, especially since the less reliable and much more common Elise was well out of budget! ;-P )
It's been a great wee car, so much fun on the road rallly and I've met a lot of great people, just because of the little plastic shitbox! It's not all been fun tho, there have been times I'm not even sure I'd have pissed on it if it caught fire! Main time being waiting for the AA for hours on the hoon this year when the alternator gave up on life, but even the bad times give you a story to tell later on, even if you didn't see the funny side at the time
Thanks to everyone on here who have helped me keep this thing going, from advice on posts on here to actually working on my car. The vx community really is something to be proud of and I hope I'll still be able to lurk on here while waiting to get another one day (or maybe even this one - I've asked for first refusal if it comes up for sale!)
Cheers

Yoiks. :(

Going on to 4 weeks without the VX now. It was time to go, fun was had in the 4 and a bit years of owning it and finally getting to SC it and get 1 trackday.

I've moved on to getting a Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade and saving for a house.

I've kept my V220 plate....sub consciously holding for a return I think

I'd always hoped I might get a chance to chase nipper on the highland hoon in it! Hopefully will have another once we have built a house - will be building one with a garage anyway!...

well after over 20 years owning LY 72 from new i had to take the decision for her to have a new home and simply couldn't have found a better new owner Jimmy boy   .Couldnt simply drive this little bitch with my health condition and seeing  her going away on joe trailer driven by jimmy just took my heart away and still thinking of her :(  .When you see LY 72 on a track please move over as jimmy will certainly give her the best time of her life and will do my best to stick on VX 220 club and follow her .I hidden a tin of spam in the car but Joe,Neil and Jimmy havent found it yet    It was a real pleasure to have been a member of this site since the creation of it by thorney and have meet many people and some have become very good friends over the years and will do my best to remain loyal to them .i might not be a vx220 owner but my heart still with her and never thought i will be posting on that thread  :(

Sorry to read this Fab, painful to read in fact. I still have pictures of your car broken at mine waiting for parts, those were the fun days. You had a lot of fun and I’m sure as did many peeps on here, all centred around your car. I can thank you for the memories.

Im still car less,, fed up with unbelievable lead times.. the VX is a tough act to follow in soo many different ways.

Go well Fab and don’t forget the good times.

Never intended to :)

So it ended this morning - still in a bit of shock tbh. Anyhow (like Fab) I had reasons out of my control, so the decision had to be made :(

The new custodian genuinely seems like a top guy - I'm sure he will give it the tlc/garage I couldn't

Miss the daft plastic shitbox already; meh - onwards and downwards - going through the old receipts etc was like re-visiting an old period of time - some good memories there

These VX certainly get under your skin :)

End of an era Fab. Thank you for some good banter over the years. Happy to hear you will be staying around these .org parts. My sympathy for the present and my wishes for a better future are yours.

Too true 👍, and if you’re like me you will keep looking at the for sale threads trying to convince yourself that maybe you should try to get over the reasons why you sold up and get another one 🤔🙄

Fab, Jules,

Sad to see you let go of the VXs, so many memories. I must be one of the only ones left with one from the original(ish) area.
