I'm thinking about the Vauxhall exhaust as a first mod. Will I be able to use the Regal Cat and manifold later? Do the Vauxhall and Regal back boxes offer similar performance? Thanks Paul

regal back box has a larger dia pipe work and also larger exit whether it be the letterbox or big twin.....you do get an increase in performance around +5bhp....... if you do go with the vaux exhaust the regal cat and manifold will fit they will make the cat section in 50mm if you want! i have full regal exhaust( letterbox) and this only produces 97.5db......@4500rpm

Also depends on what you like - large twin chrome pipes like on the Regal or smaller black pipes as per the Vauxhall part. P

Thanks guys - the question isn't should I get Vauxhall or Regal. I have already decided that I prefer the look of the Vauxhall version. It's more that I don't want to then rule out further mods (cats/manifolds) if I go down this route. I personally believe both will offer similar performance gains (i.e. very little on their own!) Personally, while I like the look of the Vauxhall unit, I think it would be to noisy, with other mods I am thinking of, for track use. On its own it sounds great, Bogbrush's pre air filter version, however on R3D VX's car, with the pre cat removed, K&N Induction filter and then the Vaux part, for me it is to loud. However Minimes car with the same induction kit and other stuff pass at 95dB (From memory) well within track limits. Would be interesting to get some Db readings from the cars after different mods. I am sure Regal would make up a black version of which ever style you want, thats propably the route I will take. Anyone elses two peneth? Cw

It's not loud, it's merely expressing itself!!! :D

This actually could be a problem. I've been speaking to BaT and they reckon most tracks are lowering limits and 95 is about as high as you can go

Anyway Regal can look into it?

There are normally two limits for circuits - for example Bedford is static test 101db @ 4500rpm on a hand held meter tested at 45 degrees angle, .5 metres from the tailpipe; drive by is measured opposite the pits and is 87.5db. Don't get the two confused! :)

the 97.5db by the regal exhaust was a static test done at castle coombe.... :poke:
