Yeah, Donkey is still about. He just got his car back from SLS with a new rack fitted and is coming on the Highland Hoon in a couple of weeks with us. thumbsup

I think Mike signed up here as well after he bought Wivvy's VX and kevham still lurks occasionally.

How did the trackday go today, Jimmy? Get a feel for Knockhill? Edit: Scrap that, just seen your other thread. :beat:

Splitter looks great jimmy, can you feel much of a difference? Also do you have extra struts added to the spoiler?

No, the garage is stripping the head Monday. There was zero compression on cylinder #1. Fingers crossed.

Found out today.

Knackered head and one of the pistons has gone too. Looks like detonation, but only on one piston.... All the others look like they've been running very rich. think a swirl pot is in order! Going to be very careful whilst stripping down looking for more clues as to the cause!

Still think you should fit a 2nd hand replacement piston and use original rings and just put a standard 2nd hand head on rather than buying new pistons and valves etc Then save your money to buy and rebuild a much better engine on the side as aposed to buyin new standard parts for this engine

:yeahthat: ...doesn't make sense if you want to make a full spec racer... Like said, rund this with a "decent piston & head" fitted and start building up a full race spec engine. thumbsup What's with the head? Same cilinder got a hit? Edit: which cilinder??

Cylinder #1 :(

I've got to get the engine as bombproof as I can ahead of Brands Hatch. It's a double header, ie race Sat and race Sun. Fitting 2'nd hand parts that I don't know the history of is just tempting fate in my eyes, and could ruin my chances of winning the championship!!! I understand building a new MEGA engine is a great luxary but it is one I can ill afford, especially when you consider that I might not even race next season so this new engine would have no real purpose.

The new valves are coming, the new piston is on order. It is done :D need a fuelling solution now, and confirmation of exactly what caused the issue!!

Time to get my VX back to top form.

These arrived today

Posted Image

Super sexy new Nitron RacePro 46's

Posted Image

6mm wider piston from standard, race valving, full helpers, Eibach's, 500/650 springs.

Posted Image

Fitted and setup this very day  Had a brief problem when I realised the brackets supplied did not have the brackets to mount the ABS module, but a b;ast with the hacksaw and MIG welder soon fixed that

Posted Image

Not pretty I know, but.... It fits!!

Posted Image

Very nice!!

Posted Image

All I need is a working engine now and I can test drive them  Oh well, I enjoy fixing it as much as I do driving it :D

Got a roof now too, but the colour match is a bit wonky....

Posted Image

Engine should be sorted now, but I'm officially the first VX to run with the new Race 46's so wain and see who they handle eh....
