Not sure why anyone would want to do this. I had thought about sealing up my engine/boot vents for winter but thought better of it as I would feel a bit of donkey if the engine melted. I have never for one moment considered covering my rear window so I lose rear visibility. Sorry for being blunt but I can't see any practical reason to add the weight, lose visibily and cooling but fitting Darth Vader's jock strap. Sorry, Paul

The main reason for covering the rear/engine area is to reduce drag. The VXT has a shocking coefficient of drag of 0.41. A well designed lid would considerably smooth the airflow, reducing the drag by quite a bit (approx 0.5 IMHO) and most probably make the car a good deal more stable from moderate speeds (120MPH+) upwards. A secondary and tertiary benefit would be that with the smoothed airflow a high mounted rear wing would have a genuine effect and top end speed would be increased a bit (probably just a couple of MPH). It would be great if someone made one of these at a reasonable price (ie a lot cheaper than the outrageously expensive badster one) and light weight.

forgot to mention that there is no reason why you couldn't have a large piece of slightly curved perspex in the centre to allow good rearward visibility.

I had always thought that the Exige style rear lid was more to combat rear end lift (that the Vx suffers from) rather than reducing drag?

The rear end lids will actually create lift not reduce it, but they will reduce drag by helping the air stay attached and tidying up airflow over the rear. :) does anywhere sell those lids like seen on the badster?

I hadn't noticed before but the funster has a lip spoiler moulded into the rollover cover too. Interesting. Fugly, but interesting.
