Right I think now is about time to start another project thread! below is a picture of my new vx220:

Posted Image

I invested alot of time in setting up a spreadsheet and seeing which is the best way to go about buying another, by either:

Starting practically from the shell by buying a cat c/d
go and buy a repaired cat c/d
buying a standard non cat car
buying a modified car and possibly paying a premium

to be honest I favoured the buying a cat c/d car as I saw it as a much bigger challenge which I enjoy. like I said this was the plan  until I saw the above vx220 come on ebay and too be honest entered all of the details into my spreadsheet and found that this was actually the best option for me at that time, as it has the following modifications:

current modifications are:

20600 genuine miles
Exterior

- rear VXT spoiler in satin black - Mirrors in satin black - Tat short diffuser
- seat cupra front splitter
- Debadged rear. - Armourfend on front clam/sills/bonnet Suspension/wheels

- Black 16/17 Oz wheels with brand new Toyo T1R's - TMS Nitron shock - Powerflex bushes - Rear toelink conversion - Mintex 1144 pads.
Interior

- Alcantara trim to dash ,binnacle and door cards from frogman - Luke Harnesses and bar - anti rattle door pins - Cabin filter - Upgraded speakers and Alpine stereo - Chrome indicator stalks. - Momo gearknob
Engine/exhaust
- Full Miltek including sports cat - Thorney 4-1 manifold - 2.4 inlet manifold - Viper induction kit - Superchip remap - Quickshifter fitted.

as you can tell everything i would want to the suspension ispretty much done well all the expensive bits anyway! however my personal opinion is that it needs more of a power plant! as you can imagine i was used to 300bhp in the last vx!

also due to the epic paint condition and armofend on practically everything, it would be a bit of a sin for it to be kept outside! so i decided to buy a shed and stuffed it in garden ;) so that i can move and tidy while im there the workshop from the garage and into the shed. This will then enable me to keep the car nice and cosy in the garage! i was going to get leevx2.2 to build me shed but as i wanted it to last throughout the windy winter i decided to buy one ;)

so here are the remainder of the modifications that i will be replacing or adding to it:

exterior:

custom rear diffusers to aid aerodynamics (apparently  )
tubby side vents (complete the VXR wannabe look ;) )
respray the rear spoiler (not happy with the finish considering the epic condition of the rest of the car)
griffin badge removed from front -v-
modified roll bar cover

suspension/wheels:
stiffened front anti roll bar / possible rear aswell
toyo r888s all round
RC5 pads
standard discs
interior:

betts harness bar
JK seats
safety devices harness's (maybe)

Engine/exhaust:
custom 3" exhaust with 2" primaries
z22yh crank
lightened 6 rib crank pulley (possibly overdrive pulley)
saab b207 engine
0.5mm gm racing valves
78lb supertech dual valve springs
eagle 2.2 rods
overbore 0.20 8.9:1 wiseco forged pistons
port and polish EVERYTHING :D
LSJ blower cams
VXR injectors

Z20LET ecu conversion to enable perfect  mapping
cliffie special fuel pump
harrop with small pulley ;)
pro alloy modifed charge cooler radiatior with twin fans
custom charge cooler header tank
elise shop tripple pass radiator
exige silicon radiator pipes
custom larger fuel tank
nimbus tripple layer heat shield
engine mount inserts
6 speed astra VXR gearbox conversion
TTV lightened flywheel
sachs clutch
lotus driveshafts
modified gearbox cables

probably have missed a few bits out but i will be running a full photo blog and upload after every modification has been achieved! hope you all enjoy :)

edit - knew i would forget something :beat:

Feb AWESOME! - ok so thats half of October, November, December, January and Feb. by my crude calculations that gives you 167 days from today until the 28th Feb :-)

Does your new shed have heating? I think you're gonna need it becasue you're gonna living in it! :D

Plus he has to help me with my ecu + loom conversion or else he isn't getting his hands on my map :D Which considering he has the same spec as me would work fine on his(although I'll get Courtenays to detune it slightly after it's been put on mine )

Have you thought about running it in with a standard TB setup? then should be ready for the Harrop
