I still maintain anything over 300 is unnecessary.

thats very helpful seb :P but its alot more efficient than the m62, better cooling etc. Also it is quieter (no whine) so good on track and then there is the possibility for extra 100bhp and torque :D

You know me, always helping where I can!

I guess it's only because I wouldn't want to be the candidate to test the realms of uncertainty. I'll stick to the 300 I reckon and you guys can do the pushing of boundaries

boundaries have been set, we are at the bottom of the chain, the americans with the engines and the germans with everything else are very much ahead of us... we just seem to be poodling along  if you are not chasing numbers why not stick to 250 :P

Dunno I guess just because it's not a huge effort to go that little bit further and take the M62 close to its limit.

£1500 full engine internals plus labour seems like slot more effort to me :P

What is it, cams, pistons, rods, possibly the same valves as techie, and that will do me for internals, right? (Other than the obvious timing/balance chain kits, water pump etc) I would still do rods if were going to 250 anyway, so it would just be cams and pistons to go that bit further.

Labour I will be doing myself, apart from the bits I can't (overbores etc)

here are some photos of my fuel lines (not been clamped down yet)

return pipe that goes straight to the fuel pump canister

feed pipe comes straight from the fuel filter

Posted Image

both join oem fuel rails that have been made straight  (sent vocky to the shed for a hour or two straightening them Imnotworthy )

Posted Image

my ecu should be with me in a couple of days, list of bits to get done before the weekend are:

clamps for fuel supply pipe
thermistat housing to be put into the water system
fill the water system up
wire up both water pumps temporarily until the turbo timer is modded to work for this so after coming in off track the water pump will pump the water round the engine still
battery fit

kinda excited now!!! :groupjump:

Ah, progress... thumbsup
But what? No fuel surge tank?

And do you support those fuel pipes somewhere? They sit quite loose in the rail fitting and with those unsupported lengths... On my SC's I shorten the pipes and mod the fitting a bit for better fixation: Posted Image
I also shorten the brake vac pipe so the hose fits better on the SC. (could use a 90* GM sized brake vac connector there)

That muffler looks like 2bular's latest track friendly special. Size 2,5"?

NA they will be secures properly they are indeed just in there loose as the bolts that hold them to the fuel rail isn't even tight! Just people wanted to see what i had done! Same with the servo hose that's just on it loosely to stop any water getting in :) I am after the gm one! Got a part number or a spare? :D The exhaust is a full 3" system :) Regards with anti surge fueling, I'm considering my options with fuel tanks ;)

What are the general thoughts on wrapping the manifold and down pipe. I've read as many reasons not to do so as those which recommend it.
