turbo timers are pointless wastes of spaces.. whats wrong with just not booting the car for 3 mins before you pull up? even on a track, isnt the inlap a perfect time to let the liquids cool down. ? turbo timers were mainly used on turbo'd cars due to the oil/water stopped being pumped round the turbo once the engine was off, this is turn caused rapid cooling of the oil/water surrounding the turbo and after a while this rapid cooling would crack the turbo so the timer allowed the turbo 's coolant to slowly cool drastically reducing the chances of damage. all i see these days are people who pull up to the pub with their engine running get out and then leave it until it turns off after a couple of minutes whilst they are sat drinking a pint that there mate had ready for them and then think they are cool because their car turns itself off. If you have to have one make it control your water pump so when you stop thats still buzzing round, but i wouldnt use it on the engine, having the engine ticking over in a vx with no airflow is hardly going to aid cooling, if anything it would make it hotter.

You clearly didn't read what I said I was doing :P It will control the water pump and the water pump alone. Even after a cool down lap when you stop the car and turn the engine off the water in the hot engine gets hotter as its not circulating therefore this is the perfect idea and hope the 1/3minutea of circulation after a cool down lap will help keep temperatures down.

I run my electric pump for ten minutes after switching off the engine, in that time the stack temp gauge goes blank, so the electric pump works well in cooling the engine down quickly

''i can leave the engine runnign for 1m/3minutes to cool the engine down'' :P the water pump idea is perfect, but how hot are you expecting the water will get? when we did Anglesey the temp never went above 92degs, hardly a reason to put a timer on it.. BUT!!! i can see the logic behind the water pump, better cooling of the fluids the better.. IF! i see the car running and then magically turn its self off you are gettinga slap... and your not getting your spanners back!

It's when the engine is off Chris, this is when temps go above 100' After a cool down lap on track come in and turn your engine off then turn ignition on a couple of mins later and you will see the temp this high I know as I have done this on many occasions

obviously, i understand that but if there hasnt ever been a problem with the way the car cools now is there actually any point putting one on? Im not even sure if 1/2 the cars from lemans use a system like this. Did TMS ever use one on their brit car? you know me, if its not essential why bother lol

I was hoping you might sell the JK's as you would need different seats for time attack. Didn't JJJ replace his for time attack or was that just personal preference?

Oh well wishful thinking.

It was more a safety thing as the JK's flex a fair amount! The scrutineer told me the seats have to be solid but with a season under my belt I know now that they are not that strict at all and JK's should be fine.

Joe I need a passenger subframe for my JK where can I get one??

Also the flex isn't a concern if you're running with a harness bar as the height of the eyelets is fine. My horizontal bar on my roll cage is much lower and relies on the rigidity of the seats so my B5 is great!! :)
