My manifold is ported :D

It's the laminovas I have my doubt in them muchly...

I will try removing the caps in the laminover as a simple easy test but ideally j want a a new much more efficient heat exchanger

Laminova's are pretty efficient for their size and perfect for the designed job; cooling the charge in a 205HP 2.0LSJ engine in a very small space. But for higher HP/flow/heat we simply overload them.

And why do you want to remove those water caps? That will probably "shortcut" the internal waterflow and make them shed less heat...
Better do some T-measurements, as that will show you where to improve.

(And I think the bearingload of an alternative alternator is the least of your worries for a new manifold design...)

I know Vocky was worried about the bearing load and that's why I never changed it. I was just gonna remove the caps to see what effect it has! Also to be honest even though the supercharger would be better mounted lower down I think it would be alot easier to have it in the same place Maybe flat so it makes fitting the harrop easy

you should refrain from running it standing still, get some miles on the engine otherwise you will get bore wash thumbsdown ps: the ecu is just learning a few parameters so it will alter with every run until you get some 'miles under the belt' - see above :poke:

I get whako readings from my AFR too Joe, even more so than you, mine can range by +-/ 1.0 from second to second. At first I thought it was due to an exhaust/manifold leak, then when I had checked that and various other things repeatedly, I came to the conclusion that it can only be to cross-flow in the head due to the inlet and exhaust cams being open at the same time. What are your cam durations and overlaps ? Also, no need to worry about running a bit lean here or there (ie +/- 2.0 ) when you are under aprox 8 psi of boost IMO. I ran my engine in like this for 750 miles without any probs. It's ever to easy to get super cautious I know, just go for a sensible drive and flex the revs up and down without getting any serious boost if I were you.

Nothing wrong with those AFR readings. In standstill you're not giving any load to the engine so it (should) runs in closed loop with a fluctuating AFR around 14.7. You see it richens up on throttle and then goes very lean on coast down when the injectors are shut off. That's pretty normal, so leave it, finish the remaining points and start driving it to properly load up the pistonrings.

Here's a picture of one I did earlier :) Since the photo it's got a beefier centre adjuster and it's been powder coated but it's basically the same.

Does it need to be adjustable? I was going to make one without an adjuster,..

Not really, can't remember why we did it now tbh, suppose it easier to make as the measurements aren't as critical.

Afr will be sh** as the ecu won't go into closed loop till the engine is warm enough...... Longer than your mincing about.

anyways had some steel conduit laying around so i decided to make my brace bar there are 2 spare holes in the subframes next to where the toe links bolt into so i will bolt through those existing holes. anyways as i have a 3" exhaust system and the fact i want to use these existing holes means i cannot use just a straight bar so i borrowed a bender (oooerrr) from work and made it into a prototype bracebar! i left it in the van and havent taken a photo yet  so i will update with photos tomorrow oh and the main thing of whether it fits and avoids the exhaust which im sure it will :D a basic shape is ''''________/'''' then i crushed using a vice both ends to make them flat'ish. as its rather late i havent drilled the holes yet but i have them lined up, so i will drill the holes m8 as i used 20mm conduit. i will bolt it so that a nut fits inside the conduit and then crush it more so that i is SOLID! anyways this post is crap without photos so will update tomorrow (just wish i never fitted my rear diiffuser yesterday :beat: as its a pig to fit!) chinky chinky
