A straight up race is always going to increase the risk of incidents as you literally fight for position. Half the strategy in TA is to fight for space so there are very little 'risky manouveres' (not to say it doesn't get iffy sometimes). Obviously safety is paramount and you will always be better off with a cage but I don't see any of you guys with cages and you all (nearly) cane it as hard as you dare on track days.... After Oulton I took my front cage section out and just ran with basic roll over protection.

Don't let people get in your head fella. If you want a cage get one.

I have raced for too long and seen too many nasty things to want to compete without a cage and I have more plans than just Time Attack this season. Track Days are all overtaking on the left and on straights only stuff so low risk. TA is all about balls out and whilst the risk is lower than outright racing it is more dangerous than track days and there could always be a faster car lapping that you haven't seen that dives in under brakes, into a corner at the same time you decide. Would be messy. Your life, you decide. I have.

Too old to play mind games and not interested in winding my team mate up, not my style. I leave that to others.

sh** happens ay!

Joe,
My point of view. If you have the money, and want to campaign your car seriously then IMHO a cage is a good idea - but it is YOUR choice.

With these cars you're more likely to die on the road IMHO, where diesel ( :ninja: ), wet leaves, black ice, treadless tyres (!), other road users, people on bridgestones etc etc are likely to cause an automotive spill. On a track, esp in TA, the stuff you're likely to hit is eitehr grass, gravel, armco, catch fencing or some polystyrene signage. And of course generally there is some (if sometimes not always enough) run-off to allow you to sort it out.
On the road there's other cars, trees, ditches, walls, buildings, fences, trucks, busses and all sorts of stuff and often the run off is measlier than a gnat's cock.

Oh and watch the video, the music's good... :poke:
