Any update on the hardtop liner? :)

Not any further than having drafted out a piece of material with some stitching done. Just need to get my hands on a hardtop Posted Image to have a trial fitting before I arrange buying some more fabric to start cracking these out.

I've just ordered one from Jonnyboy :D Would your solution be similar to the turbo OEM lined Hardtop. How would it be attached?

Has it been posted yet?

Hmmm... Might see if he is free and try and get it shaped to yours and then have a template. Will have to drop him a text in the morning and see if he is free - thought he had sold them all... so was on the hunt to borrow one for an hour or two.

Give me a nudge tomorrow evening and I may have managed to pop across to see him. Once I have a better idea of making a final cut - it would suggest just gluing the liner in place.

Big thanks to Jonnyboy, as I managed to pop round this evening and have a second measure of the filling-less HT liner.

Now having mapped out an initial plan, turning this into a perfect shape is more tricky, as unlike the soft top liners the measurements have to be absolutely perfect!

So here are some pics of my first attempt and will mean I have to rethink the pattern a touch as it is slightly too deep and a couple of inches too thin. The question it has lead me to think are " how would this translate into the variety of hard top shapes there are..." So could make them not 100% perfect for every type without having it in front of me.

For that reason I can't confidently say that if I was to make these for you,

1. it would therefore be helpful if you could mark out a 'perfect' pattern and send it to me and then I'll oversize them to start with and tailor them post production to be as accurate as possible.

OR

2. Produce these as a generic item, but purchasers may have to accept them as a 'best guess' size and shape.

The pictures I got from the initial batch are below:

Just wanted to publicly give a shout out: Just got one of these soft top liners, it's a gorgeous item, surprisingly well padded, arrived rapidly and very well packed, and all in all transaction was a pleasure. Cheers Mangham!

Thank you.

NB. I still have a couple of the plain patterned liners left from the previous run (but these can be turned into a diagonal or diamond pattern) if required without too much fuss - but could take a couple of weeks for me to get them to Annette for amending.

Prices would be as last mentioned:

Plain (pannelled) £30
Diagonal Patterned £35
Diamond Patterned £38

I have also just recently sent out a hard top liner to a forum member, so hopefully I should be able to get a better idea of the suitability of these and recommendations to improve it further.

I have however just started to get my life back in order (after an unbelievably crazy few months), so sorting out these should be easier (just that my visits to Annette's will be less regularly now she is no longer on the doorstep).

I have been pondering this afternoon about this hard top liner stuff.... And am thinking it may be best to send out a plain peice of fabric (and soap as it makes a perfect marking pen) to those who want a hard top, so they can mark out an exact shape of their hardtop, then I can machine it so that it gives them the desired shape, thickness and pattern. Just need to get some more raw materials in first. How would that sound? I'll PM those who registered interest previously and see how much interest there is, so I can try and get enough fabric to get a decent discount on it, but not so much that it leaves me out of pocket. Could probably put these together for about £35-£40 a pop (including the postage costs and packaging to and from) if the material supplier can sort me out the fabric at a decent price again.

I know it seems like a strange time to be bringing this topic back to life, but after a couple of enquiries very recently I am wondering whether there are others sat out there wanting one of these?

If so I will attempt to drag Annette back out of retirement and try and get another batch prepared, either for current takers or for people wanting them later this year. However I will need to nudge prices up a bit (less that a fiver I hope) to reflect some of the postage and production costs - as always I will do these at as fair a price as I can.

If there becomes a requirement to advertise these on here, that will also have an impact on what I will have to charge (I am not bleating here, just having to cover myself so that I don't set a price and then make a loss on them, if a 'sellers fee' is required).

EDIT: Also please be aware - I am not going to be able to do these on a 'next week' or 'week after' basis, I will need a bit of time to get the stuff ordered in and get Annette set up again (Plus I have a wedding to finish arranging [and have] in the next few weeks).

Right then... I'll bump this back to the top, following MrSteve's (I presume 'king cnut = silent steve ???) comment and will set Annette to task. Prices are (due to increased postal and material costs): £43 Plain (6 pannelled) £48 Large Diamond stitch £50 Diagonal Pattern However there is likely to be a delay (6-8wks, but will keep everyone informed), as Mel and I get married at the end of the month, so we are all pretty busy people at the moment. So I'll start a list again: 1.

I can both honestly and confidently say they do, but I would await confirmation from others, as I am the seller  so how can you really trust me?
