looking at onother project would anyone be intrested in a front vent that goes where the fog lights go.
to look similar to the new exige front but to match the lines of the vx and has the same bar part through the middle of the vent

Wouldn't it just be simpler to buy an Exige/Elise instead of butchering a VX by trying to graft on lookalike bits, left, right and centre?

Cosmetically I think they certainly add to the appearence of our 'bricks'. Howevever, as always I would like them to be functional, with some internal plumbing for brake cooling and pressure venting.

Easiest would be to get a set of the edel-parts vents, and to built the sideway bar yourself.

Some fair points made there. The Edel bumper looks like a pretty good effort. Can't really see what more you could offer. Maybe making a rear to match and using this front as a reference.

How would pairing the big holes up with a pair of those vents that sit on top of the wheel arches work? Would it be better to try and vent towards the brakes and down under the car instead?

Partially my thoughts to the point of venting air downwards under the car, I guess that's a bit of a No,No.
Need a venturi in the ducting to suck/release air from the wheel arches, venting through the clam vents... plus a better wiper/washer system to clean off the resultant crap that gets thrown out of the vents. However, a sliding plastic ventilator down at Jewsons gave me an idea  A little winter project to be undertaken methinks

The last place you want the air is under the car, better would be to vent it so that is jets down the sides of the car and shrouds the wheel arches.

Also wouldn't bother with the bar as it's only there on the Lotuses to fit the Fairy lights for the new EU regs.

The most functional thing would be to not do them at all. Get brake cooling air from the crashbox. More holes in the front will only add drag.

It depends what you do with it, the flat front of the vx created a high pressure but as you say an open cavity with no airlet will cause even more of a pressure build up. However if you use the ducts to move the flow around or over (as with the Ferrari 458) it will reduce the drag.
