Haha. No, never saw this before. (Running in "NA mode" with an open turbo...) But triggered by this succesful conversion I re-performed my queste and found that Trifecta now offers the LNF tunes in stand alone applications for swap projects. thumbsup thumbsup thumbsup (So 2,2NA's now have the possibility to outperform the VXT guys with the latest technology; VVT & DI, 260Hp in standard trim and 300+Hp with some ecu tuning stage) :D

Yep I saw it a few weeks ago and must say I have been tempted reselling my Motec to fund a LNF... but I'll stick with N/A R&D which is much more fun :beat:

Gosh the LNF really is a big step forward. Such a shame it has cast pistons in it though. However once you swap them to forged, that would be a great engine to make pig power.

Maybe now is the time to get in on a project :D
Maybe I'll wait till it's tried and tested ;)

Tim, you are due a power hike soon in your plastic roller skate ;) If you swap out the pistons on it, I hear you can get 500 BHP out of one on E85, so maybe about 450 BHP on 99 octane. I dunno if Klassen can map them though, as the ECU has must have extra tables for the DI which adds extra dimensions (as in 5th and 6th). What power are you running ATM ?

A power hike, yes, although I appreciate and applaud your 450+ quest I do think it will be too wild :D 240b 285ft atm

I do not know how powerfull is pig, but our target is 450 horses :groupjump:

Hi Martynas, I think 450 BHP sounds good for medium sized tracks. What class restrictions do you have in the races you enter? What width tyres do you have on the car at the moment, as I think 450 BHP (approx 375 ft/lb of torque) will need much more rubber than the standard width 225 mm rear tyres, especially in the wet. I imagine that replacing the F23 gearbox with a dogbox will be very expensive, I don't like to think how much you have already spent on your car  . Presumably you will also install straight cut gears to reduce the frictional losses and increase strength ? Nev.

Hi, Nev

Michelin Slicks 24x64-18 front, rear 25x64-18. Transmission now is the biggest headache. We are looking for used sinchro dog box for a decent price.

Try 'the gearbox man'. Always worth dropping an email. Nev, aren't straight cut gears weaker than helical? Smaller contact area. Perhaps I've got my thinking wrong. Whine like a small child in a sweet shop too. Having had a straight cut box I'll stick with the transmission losses!

Who's the 'gearbox man' please - someone on this website ?

Straight cut gears are stronger and more efficient (ie less frictional losses), but you are right, they are noisy.

http://www.gearboxman.co.uk/ Mostly ford and V8 stuff but worth an email. I thought a helical gear was stronger as each tooth is longer and has more metal conecting it to the gear. Perhaps my thinking is a bit off.

Sorry I can't share it, because it is light-weight wing made from alluminium using old technology and it's only one. But I could upload a few pictures from the process, if interested.

Your car is amazing!
I have a small favour to ask.
The car next to you in this image, do you know where I could find more pictures of it? I'd love to see all it's decals.
Thanks.

Oh my god, I just fell in love again  Great car, although 450 hp would also be easily doable with the Z20LET. I am currently starting this project with an engine rebuild myself. By the way: Since I am working for a big alloy wheel manufacturer, I can tell you that no common wheel company can afford to offer turbine wheels which are mirrored on the vehicle's offside. The costs are the same as producing two different wheels, since you have to build two cast forms and one is about at least 25.000 pounds... speaking as a designer, this circumstance is sad of course. But if you look at the costs, it would be a loss to finance two forms for one set of wheels.

may i ask, do you know the weight differences between the standard engine and this one? heavier/lighter in total?

Helical gear are stronger, but sraight cut do not longitudinal load on the bearings and on the gearbox housing.

Helical gears are used mostly for noise.

We expected that the difference will be larger, but proved that the weight is almost the same
