What can you do in the 'your track' section. Can you build your own?

Short answer, no.

You get a number of venues and then the track 'editor' basically just randomises a course based on several settings such as complexity and corner severity. It is good for messing about though and you do get some good tracks out of it.

Played the f1 game, that obviously has spa.
All f1 games are sh** though imo.

Ding to that. The Need for Speed series has Spa with "regular" cars (at least it did on Xbox360), I think. Got bored of it after about an hour so haven't really explored it. GT5 lasted for about 5 hours before I also consigned that to the pile of "can't be arsed to waste my time" pile.

Have you tried racing online against mates Matt? GT5 is really good for this, even my mate this isn't interested in cars or racing enjoys it. If you fancy having a go with a group that arent going to intentionally punt you off then add me on PSN and have a go with us thumbsup

Are there enough of us online to organise a .org race? Could do VXs or classic minis or whatever anyone else wants...

Haven't tried online with either console. Too many weirdos out there, on the Internet. I might be from the intentional punt off school of racing though, as "if you aint rubbing you aint racing!" seems to be my mantra. Well, that and the fact all the AI cars seem to brake too early/hard for most corners. I think my gaming days peaked with the arcades of the '80s and Defender/Scramble/Galaxians. Was hoping the PS3 and all of the hype around GT5 might tick the box but it doesn't seem to be any advance over Forza 3 (which I think is still a better game). I think I just get bored too quickly with these things.

I would say the same, but while i don't intentionally punt people off I do like to have a little 'banter' on the track

Edit to add: if racing against forum members I will be on my best behaviour ;)

So how does on-line racing work? Does that mean anyone invited can just roll up to a race with whatever supercar they've got in their garage and let rip against some poor sod in a Nissan Micra race car? What about beginners vs old hands, seems a bit w4nk if you're going to be handed your arse on a plate by the second corner and in danger of being lapped on the second lap by some hugely experienced player running a Zonda or something. Likewise, the tuning mods etc?

It can work any way you like. You dont have to "have" all of the cars in career mode, there are a load of default cars that you can use on online mode. I have never done online racing with random people, im not even sure how you do. We just always play in a private lounge that one of us has set up. You can limit what people can use however you like. We regularly limit races to just one car, and try to level out the experience levels by using different tyres, seems to work alot better than using different cars thumbsup Recently we have been trying different regs, and just agree on them and trust people are sticking to them. One of them we tried is 400bhp/tonne, and last night we tried just limiting BHP to 150 and leaving everything else open which makes it a bit more interesting :)

thumbsup Sounds more sensible. Wonder where my hypertuned NA VX fits? In a mirror of the real world, I spent a feck load too much money on it.

the VX and the Elise handle worlds apart on GT5 the elise being better, it must have something to do with premium/standard. anyway, you can start a lobby (or lounge as its called) and then only people from your friends list can join you directly, there is nothing stopping a friend of a friend joining tho. setting up the lobby is quite easy, pick a track, then the regs what tires, weight limits, power limits etc and off you go. im currently running a MX5 sunday race where everyone has a MX5 fully tuned (bar turbos or superchargers) and then we just race for approx 1 hour. its good fun and if you have people who dont fcuk around its even better, the slipstream on the races bug me a lot as its too strong an effect but other than that the races are enjoyable.

F1 2010
Racedriver Grid
Supercar challenge

All have Spa in them. I personally love the F1 game and can't see why so many people bash it.

Has anyone tried the topgear test track "special events" They are incredibly frustrating. The first one is 2 laps of the track in a VW van. Any slight collision with another van (bearing in mind they are 9ft long) results in you being disqualified. The next challenge is 2 laps in an Elise 111R. This game has put me off 111R's for life. Any touch of the steering results in 2 second pause before actually turning, followed by a horrific mid engined drift which results in you 4 wheel drifting of the track. It's fcuking frustrating!

I did those as soon as I achieved the lvl required. Lotus one was a bit harder, thought it reacted very oddly.
