I bought my ps3 over 2yrs ago been waiting for this game eversince i've had every granturismo from day one. Can't wait for it BUT IT BETTER BE WORTH THE HYPE or i'm gunna be a rate pain to live with :borg: a better /cheaper way to get 3d is buy a monitor for pc application maybe. In my view there have been so many great driving games with great playability this is one area it needs to excell. trouble is i won't get owt done if it is lol.

D Day is upon us!

I got mine a couple of days ago and I am not that impressed...
I am just praying that it gets better as I start unlocking the better features.
Maybe its just that I had been waiting so long and had too high expectations!

A couple of days ago! You lucky git! The reviews do seem to be a bit of a mixed bag. Ive got the official GT steering wheel, so hope that that enhances it somewhat. The thing is I'm not a big fan of all the gimicky bits and pieces that Codemasters add onto Dirt and Grid. looking forward to just a pure racer. Be sure to add welshwhiz to your PSN friends.

Why so?

Can't really afford a PS3 at the mo but couldn't resist the Amazon bundle offer. Don't have a blue ray so can almost justify the price. If it's remotely as good as GT4 I'll be happy thumbsup

i am hoping that it isnt like GT4, to be honest i found that one boring, the tracks looked dull and it wasnt a fun to drive with no sense of speed that GT3 had. Looking at the tracks in GT5 they look a bit dull grey and grass just a sheet of green on shots i have seen. yes, the cars do look lovely. and my OCD got the better of me when i saw the rain physics but my mind could get past the fact that the side window never changes in the rain direction or speed. fussy i know, but so much attention to detail to miss that upsets me.

Quite a few reasons actually. I expected the graphics to be unbelievable and the first race started and the shadows were quite flickery and jagged. then the racing lines showing you when to brake etc appear to be so far out. they tell you to brake when there is no need and then then dont tell you to when you should. I really got into Forza previously and I expected the braking lines to be equally as good.
Then there are small things such as when you collide with objects or other cars, it just makes a bump noise (although I havent unlocked the damage feature so hoping that will change) and I race go-karts in my spare time and really looked forward to this feature in GT5 and the karts are nothing like the handling of a normal kart, in real life I have never spun my kart but on this game its so easy to spin and its hard to catch the spin (again I only have a PS3 controller and no wheel so that might make a big difference)

But... I havent played the game much and I hope that with a bit of game time I will get into it more and with the unlock of the special feature the game will become legendary. well thats what I am hoping.

Hope I havent put anyone off at all but thats your my first thoughts on the game.

Oh and I got the game a few days ago by shear luck, I live in Abu Dhabi and went to one of these little stalls (like a market stall but in a mall) selling games and I just enquired if he would have GT5 in stock on the 24th and he went under his counter and grabbed it. I couldnt get my cash out quick enough :P

I have my copy sitting here at my desk starring at me! need to get my a55 home, and play it...speaking to a cousin, takes about 30-40mins to do the full install... :S and then apparently I read there's a 133MB update to do straight away...so hometime can't come quick enough. Have had plenty of time playing GT prolouge, managed to crack the A Class, but S Class races proved too tough, looking forward to firing this up, although have been playing F1 2010 of late, and I think its brilliant! rallly Playstation ID: Lalli62

Been playing it since 6 this morning. Sore head now! I've been using a wheel and on the whole i am really enjoying the game. Some cars are a nightmare to control like the Elise for some reason. So hard not to spin it. Karting I really enjoyed with the wheel. Need to keep your eye out at the used car dealers to find a VX. Not found one yet.....

Don't play with a pad, that kinda ruins the idea of 'the real driving simulator' A good wheel setup transforms the GT experience. VXT feels a bit too slow but maybe that's cos its not stage 4 and tracks have an ability to make you need more power lol

Is it all as good as the hype? How does it compare to Forza3 or F1 2010 for handling?

I personally dont think it lives up anywhere near the hype, but I am going to treat myself to a steering wheel this weekend so maybe my opinion will change.

I definitely dont think the handling is as good as Forza 3. so is the handling good in F1 2010? Its my Christmas pressie off my Girl Friend so hoping its good.

Cheers

Try driving the elise 111R on the top gear test track for the Special event. first few attempts its imposible not to spin. I cant believe an elise handles like that. on Top gear nearly all cars are flat out through the follow through but in the game its next to imposible. maybe I am just crap at the game!
