Finally got a Speedster in Europa Blue. Then the next time I checked the second hand dealers there was a silver VX T. Perfect for me, just need to buy a silver hardtop for my real car. :D

Hate to be an Xbox fanboy...but that looks terrible :o . I literally thought that bottom picture was from some freeware PC driving game.

Forza FTW

I don't think the 3d model of the car is that bad, its just the god awful textures they've but on it.

Had a few hours on it with a controller admitidly, and its alright. Not the epic epicness I was expecting. Forza is still, much, much, much more fun (and better)

I here there is 'head tracking' if using GT5 with the camera - anyone know what this does?

I went out and bought GT5 and the GT Wheel yesterday and I have to admit I had huge expectations.. Bought a civic type R for first car, and frankly didn't find it remotely realistic. You can't get any lift of over steer, in actual fact you can't seem to over steer unless you literally stamp on the brake pedal. That said I kept playing, and as time goes by it seems to get better. The karting is a load of crap frankly. I kart every week, and ingame they handle nothing like real life. If you manage to get any sort of slide, it just ends up spinning. Hooked it up to my 3d projector and am not overly impressed. Keep it high def and flat :D I think its a game you need to stick with, I'm going to sit down in an hour and just play a bit and see if it gets any better. Graphics are pretty good, but sometimes they seem a bit flakey. The AI is the most annoying AI i've ever played against on a computer game... They don't care less where you are, they simply stick on the racing line.

O yea - the head tracking. I've got the PS Eye, but no idea how the hell you set it up for this head tracking stuff. So if anyone knows, would be good to hear how!

The Playstation Eye tracking only works in Arcade Time Trial mode for some reason (processing power required?) on premium cars. It also requires some fiddling in the settings menu. You need to get it so that the cross in the middle of the screen on the settings menu follows your face reliably when you move. I tried it but found it almost entirely useless and distracting. Makes it hard to know what the car is doing underneath you if you turn your head as you go round a corner as you can't feel the Gs like you can in real life. The rest of the game is extremely good but I have to admit I'm a little disappointed after 6 years of development, it still doesn't feel like a finished product. The standard cars are the biggest let down, 80% of the cars in the game (a lot of which are the most interesting to me because they are ones that I've owned or consider to be future classics) look rubbish compared to the premium cars and cars in other modern games. Surely they could have deleted some of the boring stuff ('92 Honda Beat with 59bhp?) and spent more time making a premium list that's comparable to Forza 3 (including the VX and the DC2 Integra Type R, my last two cars!). I'm hoping they improve the standard models in updates or gradually replace, at least all the performance cars, with premium models. There's some attention to detail issues with the tuning and specs of the cars as well. You can't fit a supercharger to a VX220 NA (probably one of the most well known mods out there for the VX) and a racing air filter gives you about 7-10bhp, if only! I guess some of this can be put down to having 1000 cars and not being able to customise the tuning perfectly for all of them. But they must have come up with this data for the previous GT games, so they either got it wrong then as well or didn't import the bits they should have (ie. the specs, not the models!) from GT4. Also, they got the specs wrong for the VXT. For the Elise and the VX NA they used the most optimistic weights quoted in performance figures (870kg for the NA, 670kg for the S1 Elise!) so I was expecting to see the normal 930kg for the VXT. But instead they've taken the figure from the manual of 1005kg that includes 7kg of luggage and a full fuel tank!! It's nothing some weight saving mods can't remedy, but why take the most optimistic weights for all the other Elise variants and not the VXT . Still, the handling on the VX models is superb so I can forgive the error with the weights, but the graphics look crap so I'm still disappointed. Overall I still love the game and would rate it 8.5/10 for the superb physics and premium graphics, but it's not quite living up to its potential or the hype. I hope they sort it all out with updates and DLC.

Quite hilariously having spent years waiting and dreaming I don't really like it.  It just feels really poorly thought out in so many areas and I find myself struggling to see a single area of the game that is actually exceptional, everything in it has a 'but' to add. Actually I have just thought of one exceptional thing, the music and in particular the epic guitar bit that pops up when you win a race and the immense porno jazz that gleefully blasts away through the menus. Oh and for anyone wondering about 3D, I wouldn't bother as it's also sh**. Played with it on for all of about 10 minutes before deciding that it adds nothing and makes the graphics worse. One funny point though, I did manage to reach 215mph in a VX220 Turbo, now there's a scary thought... :tt:

Yeah, not really digging GT5. Its just a bit dull... I hate how they concentrate so much of their effort on zillions of Jap cars too. Plus Forza is a better drive. All that time spent waiting and I might as well have just kept my PS1 and Micro Machines :P

Could be the camera settings, go too wide angle and things start to deform slightly.

Good to see that colour coded windscreen surrounds looks as crap in GT5, as they do in real life.
