My housemate has Forza 3. I think graphically GT5 is capable of beating Forza 3 from the right angle with the premium cars, especially in still photo mode. The attention to detail on the premium cars is staggering. Unfortunately, when you're racing and watching replays it becomes clear that the anti-aliasing and shadows in GT5 are sub-par and there's some serious glitching that goes on with the shadows on the cars on some tracks, so overall Forza 3 looks prettier more of the time. The problem with GT5 is they got stuck on the fact that it had to be native 1080p, which has left them little headroom for polishing the graphics with anti-aliasing and really good lighting effects. Some of the models and textures on some of the tracks are pretty low quality as well, probably because all the PS3s power is going into rendering the premium cars at 1080p. It would have looked better if they had done what 90% of other games do and stick to 720p and use the extra power for that little bit of extra polish that makes the game more believable 90% of the time. However, GT5 plays better than Forza 3 in my opinion so overall I prefer GT5 and I hope they improve the problems with updates which Kazunori Yamauchi has been hinting at.

I had actually stopped playing the game as thought it was gash! but after seeing some of these pics I am left drooling on my computer at work and looking forward to getting home so I can finally get some good cars to make the game more enjoyable. Can anyone recommend any great cars to buy? I am only at level 10 tho...

It does get better the further you get, I was a little disappointed to start off with. I think the 458 is the best car out of all the gt games I've played.

I'm at level 17 now - when the hell do you get weather or any sort of damage? No new things for ages!

I was thinking that more from a weather point if view. A few rainy championships would be more entertaining.

you can go play on arcade or online to see weather, better damage, fuel usage and tyre wear or you can wait till you are level 25 and unlock the endurance series.

Do it Glenn, I've not played 'games' for 8 or 9 years, had to go and get a ps3 for this game. On the game though I'm a bit concerned it's going to be over pretty quick!
