I am afraid I am in Derby. You are based in Exeter otherwise I might have agreed on a car swap for a week or two. If you sent me a prototype I'd fit and test it. Best regards, Paul

I am located down in Exeter in the South West, I see the odd one or two driving around occasionally so i'll try and grab their attention when it is convenient. It is a bit cheaper per unit to get more than one made at a time & it will be a good idea to get a couple of testers trialing them out before I get a batch of 20 or so made, i'll give you a shout paul when I get soemthing together for the next design revision. Regards, Adam

I'd say you can have mine for a couple of weeks (would encourage me to get some use out of my bike!), but from London I'd kill a day getting to Exeter and another day picking it back up!

Same for me - could do without the car for a couple of weeks (Would need it back by 30th Sept for a trackday) but I don't have enough spare holiday to do the there/back trip.

Hi guys, I had forgotten but a friend of mine whom I used to work for has got a VX220, I spoke to him today and hes ok with letting me pull apart the front end to take an in depth measure up for the unit. This has worked out quite nicely as I would have been more than happy to meet half way or drive up to meet any of you guys for a swap but the temporary insurance would have been a killer due to my age.

Does Moneyhunster have a Turbo or N/A? Only reason I ask is that wont the heating circuits differ on the different models i.e What works for a turbo might not work on the NA as per Slindborg's design? Just checking chinky chinky

Well, I can't go another winter without a heater so I called Adam up and asked him how things are going. As expected, it's on a 'back burner', which I think means it's not happening. Certainly he's not doing any work on it at the moment and he doesn't have any plans to do so. Adam has reservations as to whether it'll get enough heat into the cabin, and, maybe I'm interpreting too much here, but he seems unconvinced that he'd make money from it. Which takes me, and I guess that means all of us, back to square one. My heater doesn't throw any hot air out. None, nada, zilch. I commute in the car. All year round. In Switzerland. It is really annoying to sit slightly in front of a 2 litre turbocharged engine and yet none of its heat gets near my nipples! Adam did say the best way to get heat into the car was to put the heater in the cabin and not route the air round the place. I asked him if a couple of his micro heaters would be enough and he said probably yes (they're 2 kw each). I'm thinking of having a go at mounting them inside the car and plugging them into the existing ducting. Anyone else with any suggestions?

Christ. You'll need to swing by Geneva airport and borrow one of their 747 APU's to power that. That's potentially 300+ amps required to power your heaters. :o

Hopefully this evening I'll be insulating the water pipe that runs down the sill. The one that brings hot water from the engine to the unit that turns it into warmish air. I'd been thinking about fitting some kind of heater in the cabin for some time. I have some ideas and some suppliers to see. If I get any info I will post it on this site. I can't bear the thought of another freezing winter in my car. Best regards, Paul

The drivers side sill is the most effective part of the heating system in my car. Acts like a radiator. Too hot in the summer but lovely in the winter. Fit a chargecooler.

That's a damn shame. Not looking forward to winter again in VX - it's my everyday car and last winter was awful. If T7 was giving up on it, it might have been better if he had stated so because then we could have pursued other options. As it stands, it's back to square one in October when it could have been back to square one in July. I don't know about the making money issue, but I was very eager to pay if a solution was forthcoming. Thinking about the principle of heater matrix as a central heating radiator, I wonder whether a solution might be to plumb a heater matrix into the cabin itself - maybe in the space above the footwell or something? Stick the matrix in the cabin and have a small fan mounted onto it for circulation? Bloody stupid VX heater :(

They're not electric heaters. They get their heat from the coolant like other heaters. They do have a fan, but it won't be burning APU like power.
