I am no auto electrician and problem talking a load of b*ll*cks but if there is 12v running through the stack to light the leds and there are six leds then in theory each led would have to only require 2v to be on maximum brightness??

Am I talkng sh*t???

talking sh** lol

They wont be in series, or atleast shouldnt be.
They most likely wont take 2v, most LED's dont thesedays

Fair enough, like I said no auto electrician, I will go back to work :tumble:

To VXed: Hope you get this sorted and if you do post how you fixed it as I am interested to know now thumbsup

THey are wired in series groups of three (there are 6 in total). But both groups share a common earth. This is about as much as I could tell from my multi tester and My eyes could tell me. I am hoping to have a look at it next weekend. Might see if I can get one of my mates have a look as he is an electrician. Seems like and odd way for it all to be wired up though...

you want an electronics person to look at it tbh... electricians dont tend to deal with LED's and stuff on the component level.

You 'could' post me the dash and I have a look but that might be uber faff

That is an idea, but definately wouldn't be able to use the car while you had it. Plus couldn't rely on courier not chucking it around.... Shame you aren't a bit closer. My dad is an electronics engineer, but has been out of the game for about 30 years. Plus he'll just call be a bellend! lol!! I might try and find someone to help me nearby. See if my brother has any electronic engineering mates at uni... Wish I hadn't bothered now :beat:

As a quick and dirty test, can you put the original LED's back on and see if they still work fine? Will disprove the earth issue if thats the case

Just a quick update. Put one of the orig back on and that one worked fine, so I have bought some 5mm LEDs same as the original ones. Hopefully this will cure my problem as driving in the dark sucks right now!
