You can now buy >these< on eBay which are identical to the VX key (ours are the D-Series which sometimes have '296' stamped into the key) for £9 delivered, then can be cut for a couple of quid locally then programmed via an >OP-COM< reader.
Only new keys can be programmed and you need your Security Pass (see below) as it contains the unique 4 digit code needed to program the new key. If you do not have this then you need to go to the dealers and buy one. You need to bring your V5 and proof of ID with you as it will not be sold to you without it.

Security Pass (approximately the size of a business card normally kept in the leather owners folder;

You can program a new key through the OP-COM using >these< (page 12) instructions. The new key must be in the ignition and ignition switched on.

Two clicks of a mouse and 4 numbers typed in to your laptop and you have a new key coded to your VX.
