Hi Rob, welcome to the best car site on the net. :) You've made a great decision in buying a VX I bought mine 7 months ago and I LOVE it! You really want to look into whether you want a tubby or N/A VX especially at that money. £10,000 will only get you a shabby Turbo or a cat D which really isnt preferable. Better off looking at a very shiny, all bells and whistles N/A and if you really need more power supercharge it when you have a bit more dosh. There are a lot of threads on this matter (one 6 pager running at the moment!) Thanks for killing all those nasty Taliban bastards by the way Imnotworthy

Hey Rob,

Good luck with your search for a vx, and with the rest of your tour Posted Image

I would recommend getting a test drive in both the 2.2 Na and the 2.0 Turbo, the 2.2 Na is still plenty faster than a v6 406 Posted Image , but yeah the turbo is quicker than the Na... although a fair bit heavier Posted Image

Oh and i think you will be getting a black one then... they didn't make them in white Posted Image

I hate driving mine to and from barracks twice a week. Before I knew it in 6 months I had put 11k miles on it. Even though I love driving the vx it hurts me knowing that majority of my miles were through commuting. Good advice already given above. When I get back from afghan in Oct/Nov I will be supercharging mine and getting a cheap run around Oh and welcome to .org

Hi, and welcome, as above. Posted Image

The 2.2 VX (NA) is going to give a completely different performance to a 2.2 engine in a standard car. ;)

Despite the idea that the OP had a 2.2 406 before I think, what he is really saying is that he wouldn't want to have the lower powered car again... Hankering after the more powerful lump. However what I would say is you really want to drive both and figure out which best suits your driving style... The NA is actually fast enough and has an engine that can be driven harder with the smoother power delivery for those who don't had the greatest driving ability. The way the Turbo spools up can mean that it can/will catch you off guard... But as others have said... The NA is still a quick car, and with an SC is fitted can be blisteringly quick.

I was just stating i bought a 2.2 and after i always wished i gone for the v6 so i dont want to get a N/A and wish i had a turbo one thats all. Luke- im a signals bloke. 3 division. Im more concerned about fitting in one TBH i am 6.5ft my dad has a TT and i like it but its to small inside for me and who invented seats in the back of that thing needs shooting. I will be testing a range of cars honda s2000,lotus elise and a vx

If you find the TT too small inside, then I am afraid the VX probably isn't for you"! At 6ft5 you will be pushing what is possible with leg room and with the non-existent elbow room shard with the passenger you are going to feel very much like a mackerel packed into a sardine tin.

But the only way to tell is to go and look at one.
