Deffo to cold for the roof off- had mine off Sat and almost froze to death. The heaters are great aren't they, when I bought mine I asked the question about the heater and the garage said of course it works (obviously never been in a VX before)

Well....it probably does work...... they're just not all that good. When I had the roof off I used to point the fan to my feet then the vacuum would draw the air up. Kept me cosy enough.

Haha!

But surprisingly, the heater on my vx is ace after 5 minutes. Much quicker heat up than the astra at least.

Decided on roof on, turned out to be a great idea as it hammered it down 5 minutes from home.

edit: just read the post about the seller being an arse. i remember the thread, just didn't realise this was the car. that would really put me off as you can't trust a thing the guy says with his attitude like that.
if the money is low enough on it its worth a punt though....
i'd just hate to give cash to some tw*t like that - it would hurt too much LOL

Yeah I was a little gutted about it as I would have loved a Mandarin and I was still tempted to make an offer for it right up until I found a good silver one locally.
Now I hope the vx spntaneously combusts and the guy ends up with nothing.

had emailed him before for a friend who was intrested in a vx..what a rude stuck up person...that is why his car is still up...

to speak tp you like that is scum..

hope your happy with your new vx Posted Image

Absolutely love it thanks. Currently debating at work whether 5 degrees is warm enough for a roof off commute home :P

As long as it is above freezing and the sun is out the roof is off! Can't get enough of mine!

This forum tends to find out any less than perfect cars. The Dolphin one is an acquired taste in that colour. Mine sold in 4 days at a great price for me. Happy days!!

I obviously can't comment on the various discussions regarding the sale of Nick's car (the Mandarin one) but I saw his car before Christmas when he viewed my turbo. Got as far as discussing a potential swap plus cash for mine, but I think the amount of work required to get mine back to road spec was the dealbreaker. It looked a really nice standard-ish car with a few well thought out mods - black wheels and windscreen surround, Gaz suspension and a decent stereo. Bottom line is I'd have been happy to take his car in p/ex and confident I could have sold it on fairly quickly at a reasonable price. PS Nick you were probably right to walk away. Fitting a replacement heater and alarm siren in sub-zero temperatures during January was not much fun. And what should have been a simple job - new engine cover, lock and release cable turned into a nightmare. Car is just about ready for sale again though.

Hi Gary,
Good to hear from you and thank you for the kind words. I was seriosuly tempted by your amazing machine but not long after we met I decided to leave my firm after 10 years and start up my own venture (doing the exact same thing)...Im sure you will have no problem selling your VX220 as well, roll on Spring!!

Trying to bring this back on topic..... If he's only willing to drop 300 notes, then he's going to have it for another 12 months! Interior is tired (leather cracking and worn bolsters), missing carpets and had a big puddle in passenger footwell. Front clam has some missing paint on side, but looks stone chip free. Don't know the miles or other condition, but looks like previous owner cared for it. In my opinion it's worth £7k and then another £1k to put back on the road. As it is £8k is just too much!

Seeing the title of this thread I immediately thought it would about the Gold one that has sat on eBay (on and off) for well over a year. It even got so far as to be listed as an ordinary auction, but must have been pulled for undesired offers... Can't imagine what the seller has had to pay in advertising costs and eBay fees to date. Just hope it gets used more than the picture suggests as that could end up being a bit of a lemon otherwise.

personally i love the colour, but as mentioned it was a tad expencive for what it is and what it needs doing. as long as its started up at least once every 2 weeks and moved about the yard i dont think it'll turn into a Lemon.. but i have no idea if it has been maintained while on sale, i hope it has thumbsup

Went to Matlock and looked at this car myself last autumn. Not totally surprised its still up for sale. The advert makes no mention that it is modified (lowered suspension, exhaust, etc.). Guess it's not so much of a problem if you want a track car but if you want one for the road I guess insurance is a concern (it was in my case). Having talked to the guy who owns it I got the impression he bought it as a toy for the summer and is now trying to flog it again without having done anything to it. There is the usual problem with the wear on the front seat and one of the switches was missing. Decided to look elsewhere and found a (near) standard 2.2 that has been looked after so bought that instead - now all that is need is some decent weather!

The dolphin one was always my backup plan, loved the colour scheme and it looked good in the pics but glad I didn't go to see it in that case and got mine considerably cheaper in the end!
