Currently, nothing. Still needs the engine fitting. Some major DIY has taken priority over it, but that's almost at an end now.

Back to the car!

3.0" Tullett manifold and 200 cell cat ordered. Should mate with the 2bular backbox I have (I hope :s)

Engine specs, if I haven't listed already:

Saab B207(R?)

2.0 L (86 x 86 mm)

Comp cams stage 2 blower

Dbilas valve springs (single coil, 93 kp)

balancer delete

original pistons (Z22SE pistons are rated to 300 bhp, I'm expecting more from these due to the under piston oil jets)

original con rods - good for 400 bhp

original crank - good for far more power than i'm generating.

Eaton M62

LSJ inlet manifold

Matt Bentley flywheel 4.5 kg.

External crank trigger

retain Saab oil cooler.

Will be taking the chance to get the subrame off and reshim

Same spec as mine apart from I have LSJ stage 2 cams and a harrop. What is your reason for keeping the Saab oil cooler? Speaking to vocky when mine was being built he said to keep the OEM one as it's a like for like swop and much better design. What pulley size and power will you be aiming for?

With the m62 and a 2.9 pulley you should be around 290 bhp, The m62 is nearly on the max at that, the 3" exhaust will help more than my 2.5"

Age and packaging, the original one sags and moves, while the saab is fixed, additionally I think a brand new one is less likely to fail than a 14 year old one.

I've got a 2.9 pulley right now. I expect around 300 bhp, although my main target is safe power (unlike the old engine!)

Will you be keeping the cam cover pump for your brake servo pipe? I've found it's made a noticeable difference to the peddle feel. Also are you following chills PCV breathing system with catch tank and vacuum from the filter pipe?

I think I will, it's a tiny parasitic loss compared to that of a supercharger.

I will look into more passive PCV systems, a lot of truck engines have good oil mist separators.

Fluids ordered. Turns out that Vauxhall was £30 cheaper than Opie Oils. No dodgy oil advice, and a money saving - win.

What oil did you to for in the end? I'm still on running in oil but will need to drop it out soon.

GM Dexos 2 oil; it's the same additive system using in Motul 8100 x-clean, which i'm recommending to people.

Not going to bother with running in oil, it may have helped back when flat tappets were used, but modern engine tolerances don't really need anything special. I'll just change the filter after 500-1000 miles and top the oil up.
