Mate, loving it! Would love to hear how it sounds. One of the next jobs on my list is to build a sub for the back shelf, once I get that heater sorted out too. If only someone made some sort of uprated heater :P

Two vents works very well, it doesn't get right into the corners as it did with four vents, but there's no visibility loss. Using less vents actually increases the airflow so the screen tends to clear all the way to the top at first rather than from bottom up. If I were you i'd couple fitting front speakers with wrapping the dash. I thought I had killed my previous speakers playing country music too loud while it was decorated as a station wagon, it turns out it was just a loose connection, so I have a pair that I can get rid of cheaply if you're interested. The quote that convinced me to go with the imprint unit was someone saying that without it, you're only at 10 % of the potential of the system. I'd say it's about 40 %, but it really is a significant improvement. very happy with the new wheels. The R1rs are also incredible. The 16"s just open up so many options for other tyres, rather than restricting the choice to one or two.

Thanks. One of the reasons I went for the slimline sub was because my parcel shelf gets a lot of use - I managed to fit the soft top, a tent and two chairs there on the way to Le Mans last year, it isn't obvious from the photo, but the top of the one i've got is level with the parcel shelf. Looks like it's designed for it. I think a full parcel shelf sub would sound better though, plus if you make it removable it won't limit how you use the car.

Just about to sit down and make a few heaters, for some reason people keep buying them.

Also, for inspiration:

Yes that's a lotus, and not mine - just a nice example of a subwoofer enclosure I found.

Somewhat OT, but any idea if the Lotus bulkhead trim fits?

Tom you can use vinyl to cover the sills. I put cf vinyl on mine, it's a pita but came out ok. The triangles are the hardest bit as the vinyl has come away so I'd advise filling them in if you went down that route. Otherwise full cf looks  The subs and stuff isn't my cup of tea but looks like you've done a good job as always!

i'm certainly interested - looking like the dash needs to come out for alarm off to abacus so thinking of combining with a speaker upgrade....

I haven't been updating this for some time, to the point where I'm not entirely sure what i've include and what I haven't, so i'll go from the current state of the car.

Progress was slowed when I discovered I had a 120 A alternator, Now extending the wiring loom. Worth mentioning here that when the guides say 'extend injector wires' mostly you need to just extend one of the two wires. I'll post more photos up tomorrow

Might casually re-spray the clam while it's off too.

Yeah, i've got plenty of time to get it back together :s

disclaimer: by attending I mean going along as a casual observer and dropping a heater off into the raffle, so I might be fitting the clam on Saturday morning.

Excellent! The race is on - I fear you'll win though mate as I'm restricted for time (and talent) - My planned completion date is 30th July - well, I say planned - it just has to be all done by then as its booked it for mapping at CS on 31st.

PS: Blue RX8 - I had one in the same colour. No torque but do miss the 9k redline.

Sadly I'm not, I've done most of what I can now, it's just a case of waiting for the 100 A alternator. It turns out the rule of hex = 120 a and torx = 100 a bolts isn't firm. If it turns up tomorrow I might schedule some time in on Tuesday.
