Nice to see some original ideas still out there, so easy to copy what others have done. Keep up the modding, it is your car, your ideas and your taste.

If you want the jack through the sill, then by all means jack there :o

Needs to be about 2-3" closer to the back of the car (that ferking great brace across the middle of the car)

Some people on this site are way too sad and full of themselves. TBH theres nothing wrong with his car at all, some of the things like the switches arnt my taste but only because i want no silver/chrome inside the car. I think this car is lovely and i rarely like silver cars. IMO stripes down the middle of the car looks more halfords to me than anything else

Im screwed then. stripes this weekend!

Covering stone chips though, although im gonna be totally chav'd up. Im from Arlow!!

Good work with your car! Id like to see a phot with the mirrors on the car.

I am ambivalent about this chaps car.

But the point is ........ it is HIS car and HIS thread.

So if you don't like it stay away from it and start your own thread.

I expect that most people can make up there own mind about this car and do not need a self elected person to give an alternative view point.

Most of us are over the need for that.

But hey. If you want to rain on this guys parade and stop him posting his work, then that is a great way to do it.

But for one I would like to see him keep posting. So good luck to him and I hope that he is still going to post.

Korkey.

Personally I'd trust Slindy over the guy who's job it is to go stickering the underside of the VX.

Presumably that whole lengthways brace should be reasonably secure no? But yeah where the two meets seems the logical place and where I've been putting my jack, but then again it was Stu who told me to put it there!

Slindy is spot on ref the jacking point. It is where the cross brace meets the ally sill panel. Jack up both sides there and the car just balances with all four wheels off.

Not saying slind is wrong here, but saying lotus got it wrong with 7207 x 2 stickers, in 5 years of production is a bit of a dare. I would say both places are fine, otherwise the number of cracked sills would be HUGE after 10 years.

With how wide most jacking plates are if you jack there then it'll prob overlap onto the fibreglass on one side or the undertray on the other. Also the edge of the ally on the outside is very thin and may bend up a little. If you jack where the crossmember meets you can go in a little so the jacks nowhere near the edge and on a very strong join. My stickers were in the right place

You can still see where my original sticker was on my car and in that picture the red ring is right on top. HOWEVER the decal was not fully stuck on then simply loosly balanced for the sake of the photo. They are now positioned with the wording facing the other way and nearer the center line where I have allways jacked the car from in the past having seen photos to the contrary of my oem stickers. It does seem strange the position varies when the placement could be critical though.

I've not been discouraged at all I simply have not got round to getting anything else done recently and thus have not had any updates to post about. thumbsup It did cross my mind actually that some would think that due to a quite spell. Pictures of mirrors and a few other bits waiting to be fitted will be posted in due course.

Since the topic has now been bumped I may as well add some pictures of the windscreen surround I did that I forgot to mention in here -

Keep modding Oppo till you are happy with it and sod everybody else. Don't take criticism personally, hell I drive Lightning McQueen so used to it now.

Plan to Cliffie, cheers.

I'm actually seriously considering a full custom vinyl project myself. Need to talk to the charity it will be 'promoting' to get there OK then maybe I'll have a word with PP to come up with a design...

Small update as I have done a few more bits and now have more in the pipeline I hope to complete soon.

Front clam off for a general inspection, paint, and clean up of the area and coppergrease of bolts etc. Also enabled me to get the V off in one and fit a stienmetz grille. Thankfully the bolts where all pretty plane sailing so no need for the dremel. Only two seemed to put up a fight but luckilly they where the ones inside the door that simply clamp the clam to the sill so I just undid them enough to slide the sides out. I will be having both a modded V and grille both secured from the front and will alternate between the two as and when the mood takes me.

The wing mirror mod has become a bit more complex than I initially planned. I got hold of a spare set of mirror plinths and have made them into custom mounting plates for the new ones. The aim of this was to retain the use of the original bolt locations and also to keep the same shape against the car as otherwise when removed marks in the paint laquer that I have there would have been on show. It also means they are a simple straight swap replacement if ever I need to go back to the originals.

One finished, one still to do. I got the little rubber boots off of a Vauxhall vans mirror adjustment stalks and they happened to be a perfect fit and hide the join and pivot nicely. :)

I am not sure yet if I am going to have them black or get them sprayed silver at the same time as some spoiler struts I will be getting done.
