Got my TPMS valves fitted today so my screen is now up and running and fully functional. I am very impressed with this little gadget. It seems very accurate and detects pressure loss / increase with heat and gives alerts within certain set parameters for temperature and PSI.

When one wheel was on the machine being fitted the sensor registered from the other side of the garage and the read out on the screen shot up in near real time!

The pressures are all over the place in the photo as I was waiting until they where cold to set them properly.

out of interest, how heavy are the sensors inside the wheel and will the affect the balanace of the wheel? -all of your installs look really neat by the way, great work!

They weigh less than 30 grams each I can't see them making much if any difference to the balance of the wheel at least no more so than a bit of alloy kerbing or foriegn object stuck in the tread. Many manufacturers run these as standard often much bigger versions, I guess any minor bias will be dialled out with apposing wieghts when the wheels are balanced anyway?

Finished sprucing up my center console today. I quite liked the black leather one but it had a few marks on it and I fancied changing to something a bit more unique.

The leather is only glued in a few places so it pulled off quite easilly. The silver plastic was well preserved underneath and cleaned up would have looked fine as it was.

I covered it in the same Alcantara as my dash, cowel, etc. It would have been impossible to wrap it in one piece so I had to have a join along the center line and disguised it with some furry strip things. I think it works quite well but am not 100% happy with how it looks.

I was thinking of making a metal gaiter surround but I think this pin badge placed on a chrome bezel looks OK and adds a bit of interest. Also fitted a new red stitched leather gaiter.

I also took the opportunity to widen the handbrake slot so it is not so hard to fit / remove. I will probably be fitting a matching red stitched gaiter to that aswell.

I have also ordered this new handbrake handle which although not initially intended should echo the stripes quite nicely -

Keep it on for me mate, i was just suprised to see it lol It was my good mate Si who took the pics when he was starting up his photography business. I bought the car not long after the shoot. The girl was a model he worked with for the day. They were all apart of his at the "at the carwash" thread. I think most of the pics are listed on http://www.lotuscars.se/

Thurs 12th - Sat 14th

Fitted a set of TAT pedals from the group buy -

Courtney Sport Pro Alloy intake pipe fitted -

New DVD, Sat Nav, TV, MP3, reversing camera etc flip out 7'' touch screen head unit fitted. I had to cut a chunk out of the dash to enable it to open without having it stick out a mile. It still seems to sit quite proud of the surround but that is just the way it is and could not go in anymore. Luckilly I was able to peel back the front of my allready covered dash enough to shape a recessed section and then re-stretch and secure the material round.

The alcantara is not perfectly flat which I know will annoy me but it's not too bad and will do, at least for now. Probably looks worse in the photos too. I think I want to put some sort of badge or something on the flat area to finish it off a bit.

GPS sensor mounted here, perfectly hidden with the bonnet down and reception seems great.

New speakers fitted today. :groupjump:

I went for 2 way components so had to find a home for the tweeters. I opted to drill a couple of holes and have them where the optional factory ones would be, probably not the ideal location but it was convenient and easy.

The sound quality is a huge improvement over the originals and they are also lighter, thinner, and better looking.

All looking good up to this point, appreciate it may be the photo that makes it look worse than it is though.
No offense but I never see the point of something like this in a car like the VX, or any car tbh, unless they're in the back to keep sprogs occupied.
But there again I am an old fart.

Oh dear, don't look in my VX or my Mitsi then :( In my defence the Mitsi's came as a standard item.

Dap of oppo, it's looking excellent! I didn't have the balls to cut the dash for my head unit / screen.

Top work as usual thumbsup

Looks fantastic! I would quite like some components rather than the full range speakers and then separate tweeters with crossovers fitted in my car. I just don't fancy taking the seats out to fit them!

You don't need to remove the seats to fit them. Plenty of room on the drivers side with the seat forward and the passengers you just need a stubby screw driver to get the originals out. I stuck the cross overs on the inside of the rear panel, crimped on bullets to the original wires and ran the tweeter wires under the side sills. Only took me an hour or so to do it all. thumbsup

Oh right. I'm pretty annoyed I bought (and pretty much fitted) some separate tweeters in that case! Oh well. I'll see what they sound like before replacing. How good do the lite air's sound? I've just fitted some Vibe Black Air tweeters and to be honest I think the crossovers which aren't adjustable are set to high. They're only producing the high frequencies of the singing on most tracks so the singer seems to "cut" in and out, if that makes sense. I'm liking the wankel engine keyring thumbsup Even if it is a poor engine imo!

TBH I am the wrong guy to be talking to when it comes to the idiosyncrasies of car audio. It is the first time I have really bothered changing the set up in a car, I just know that the standard speakers sounded pretty sh!t and that the new ones to my ears are 10 times better. When shopping I did a bit of reading up and I think I made a good choice, for the amount they will get used I'm certainly happy anyway. I am not one for music which demands huge levels of bass but the speakers seem to produce a good crisp sound for the wide range of tastes I have fed through them so far. Spending much more would have been a waste as the VX is hardly fitting to create an acoustic marvel anyway. Oh and I won't have a bad word said against the rotary, :9mm: yes it's flawed but god driving one is just pure  I like the keyring, you turn your finger on the back of it and it spins too! If you like that check out this real life one that I cleaned up and painted myself - B)
