Loved all of it until you cut a huge chunk out of your dash to fit a screen, that's a bit max power for me. Great effort you are going too though and the dial lights and start button look particularly great!

You didn't need to cut the dash out mate for the dvd player as i managed to source one that comes out far enough.

I did not really have much choice with the one I got, if it was pushed right in the screen was nearly facing the floor. Yours must come out a mile to clear the dash as it looks nice and flush closed up. I am happy with my system though as I mainly wanted satnav from it and it has everything built into one compact unit. I was also not really prepared to pay much more than what I did so my choices where limited.

Fitted my harness grommets today, not the nicest of jobs to do but everything went quite well and the end result is acceptable.

I bought a harness bar from markiii the other day so hopefully that will come during the week then I just need to decide which harnesses to go for. At the moment I am liking the Nicky Grist ones.

Also fitted a VW wipoer relay and created some custom fuse box stickers -

I have to admit if I could have my car exactly as it is only with a well sorted supercharged engine in it I probably would. I am starting to feel like I want a bit more power wise so may have to bring my plans of stage 2-3 forward a bit...

Mods coming soon include new switch panel, Harnesses & bar, upholstered door surrounds and custom center footwell devide / gauge console. :)

I agree to a point, I like the style of the lotus  one but I think I might replace it with one of these to match my handbrake and stripe on the center console -

I didn't think they where in a strange place? Same place as others have them, you are quite limited by the location of the raised head area on the back as to where you can put them though.

Yeh that is nice!

I have a sparco steering wheel with a Black and chromed copper lotus badge in the middle of it, when I bought it it had the yellow and green one like on your gear stick it was horrible, looks good now tho.

This would be good 4 u-

Finished my new custom switch panel today. The car is all wired up and I just need to plug all the spade terminals back onto the switch pins for it to be fully functional. I will need to trim the aluminium dash cut out a bit for it to fit back in which I am not looking forward too. Then hopefully just some strong tape will be enough to hold it on, I am not sure how I'll secure it if it's not.

The switches used are all Savage Motorsport push ones. I loved the look of them and they are quality but bloody expensive at £14.99 each. Times that by the 7 I went for and a bit extra for a few alternative coloured LED's and it was not a particularly cheap mod at around £110! Worth it though I think and I am very happy with the final result.

I used the original plastic dash plate, stuck a piece of plastic behind the opening and then smoothed over the front with filler. Then all I needed to do was smooth it all down, drill the 7 mounting holes and carbon wrap it.

Access to the loom from the front was OK but there was not alot of slack to pull though. I was loath to remove the dash yet again so I just cut and bulleted each wire and ran an extension if I needed it. Wiring including the hazard switch was all fairly straight forward, no real problems incountered and only one careless fuse blown.

I did consider adding a resistor and possibly capacitor (to have them fade out) to the ignition switched live feeds and having the switches dimly lit when running only fully illuminating when pressed. I decided against this though due to the extra hassle involved.

Will hopefully get it installed in the car tmrw, and will post more pics of the finished thing then. If anyone was thinking of doing this mod and wanted some pointers on which coloured wire is which etc feel free to shout as I made a note of all the connections and colour combinations. thumbsup
