I hope to finish the gauges install on Friday, what spare time I have had recently had to be used finding out the cause of a 'problem' with the car. :angry2: This was the bizarre cause in the end  (don't ask)

Anyway I have managed to make a switch plate for the ABS -

Amazing! I'm guessing you can't buy an abs switch like that? Also are you putting it under the bonnet or on the center brace thing?

No I don't think you can buy a specific switch for that. The key switch is available from Maplin for about £3.50 but I made the plate from a bit of aluminium cut to shape. The sticker I designed and printed myself. I can send you one of them if it's of any use?

It's going to be set into the center divide above the gauges.

Looks good. I won't need a sticker for now, but ta for the offer. I've got loads of stuff to fit to my car at the moment so I shouldn't collect any more until I fit some of it! Look forward to seeing the finished article.

Loving the little details. Nice ABS switch. I thought I was pushing the boat out using a toggle with a rubber boot and Dyno labels for ABS On/Off  EDIT: A little tip - I found some cloth loom tape on eBay to tidy up the loom I spliced - looks nice and OEM :) I will send the details if you wish. thumbsup

Coroplast? I stocked up on that a while ago, it's good stuff isn't it. I have used it all over the car now. thumbsup

Pictures of finished center console mod -

I had to swap the round keyed switch for a conventional key one due to wanting extra normally closed pins for the warning light to be wired to.

Posted Image

It is fully removable should it ever need to be you just need to peel back the drivers side carpet and undo a few bolts sandwiching it together.

Posted Image

ABS key is kept on the same keyring as my car keys so I can't make the mistake of turning it on or off with the ignition on!

The only minor annoyance and cock up was that I put the drivers coutesy light in upside down. I only realised after I had bonded it in place so was not going to mess about removing it. It doesn't really matter though as it does not look strange and you can't see both side at the same time.

Posted Image

Still to actually fit properly is a custom 'glove' box / storage bin. This was bought on ebay and was originaly from a BMW I cut the back off dremeled a few areas and made my own top, bottom and sides with bent to shape aluminium plate making it deeper. It has a nice smooth lid that glides open slowly when pressed. When fitted this will encroach on passenger space slightly but I tried sitting in and it does not get in the way at all once sat down. It will be used for CD's etc and falls nicely to hand from the drivers seat.

Fitted a set of black nuts to the alloys. I like them but I can see them becoming worn easilly and going speccled silver quite soon with chips as even now they have a few marks. thumbsdown

Wow, good centre consol. Hint: Be wary of advertising that you have an ABS cut out switch if you don't declare it to the insurers...

I have made a start on a wing mirror mod. I bought these for about £60 but knew they would need some work as I hated the very fake looking chequer squared 'CF' look finish they have. I liked the idea and styling of the indicator versions and anything that makes our low down and often missed cars more visable is a good thing IMO.

Posted Image

They are fully E marked and road legal. Initially I thought I may need some resistors inline to get them to flash in time correctly so I bought these.

Posted Image

There was no need though as the internal gubbins take care of that, I have wired in an extension from the indicators ready for fitting and they work a treat.

As soon as I recieved them I started ripping them apart, annoyingly there was no way the mirror glass was going to come out in one piece as it was very firmly bonded in place so I had to smash them to get to the internals. :angry2: I will be replacing them with plastic ones cut to shape from a sheet of mirror I bought off ebay for about £3.

I have not removed the original mirrors yet (I will wait a few days until my MOT is done) but I have held the non car specific backing plates you get with the new mirrors up to the door pillar and they seem a good size so with a bit of luck I can make use of them. If not I will have to fabricate my own.

Posted Image

Carbon wrapped they look 10 times better IMO and will now match my side ears, spoiler etc. I had to sand off the embossed standards markings etc first.
